Dear Friends,

We’ve had an incredibly exciting year at Shantideva Center! After over a decade of migration, we’ve established a home of our own!  In the short time we’ve been up and running, we’ve offered exceptionally full programming ranging from early childhood development (Ready, Set, Happy!) to qi gong, secular programs (Living a Happy Life, 16 Guidelines for a Happy Life), and a daily meditation schedule (lunchtime and Tuesday meditations, open meditation, śamatha, and vipaśyanā) along with mainstays such as Discovering Buddhism, Meditation 101, Buddhism in a Nutshell and ritual practices. In just five short months we’ve welcomed Pare Rinpoche, Dagri Rinpoche, Geshe Khedup, Geshe Tenley, Ven. Samten, Ven. Amy, Prof. Jan Willis, and Mabel Odessey, a gamut wider than ever before. Next year’s visiting lineup already includes Geshe Khedup, Geshe Sherab, Ven. Robina, Ven. Amy, Ven. Fedor, and a thangka workshop with Carmen Mensink. This is extraordinary, and it’s all happening due to your support. Thank you!

Without your generosity, none of this would be possible. Funding is requisite to building on this solid foundation while maintaining our gorgeous new space. Your support is critical to our success as we continue working towards realizing Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s vision of a center serving all sentient beings.

Please help us flourish in 2019 by becoming a member, raising your membership level, or offering a one-time donation. Sustaining contributions to fully or partially guarantee our rent are a uniquely meritorious opportunity. If 40 people are inspired to contribute just $40 per month (about the cost of a meal and a movie for just a single evening), combined, that would be more than half our monthly rent! For contributions of $200 per month, our new Parasol Partners program is a special opportunity to support our housing costs.

We can’t do this without you. Your funding is crucial because it provides the resources needed to run the center and share the Dharma. This past year you helped Shantideva Center host visiting teachers, offer Dharma courses, meditations, children’s programs, getaway retreats, pujas, practices, and community events. You offered service. You made a difference! Because of you the world is a better place!

Please help us raise $12,000 by February 19. With these funds, we will:

  • Host and help support highly qualified, compassionate, ethical FPMT teachers to combat hatred, greed, and ignorance, the seeds of suffering
  • Pay the rent, utilities, and on-site expenses at our new home: Please consider a sustaining monthly donation for rent
  • Develop inspiring spiritual and secular courses, programs, and teachings for all ages
  • Provide wide-ranging opportunities for students to accumulate merit, purify negativities, and benefit others according to the advice of Lama Zopa Rinpoche
  • Offer service and material support assisting communities in need, such as those afflicted by hunger, abuse, neglect, and natural disasters
  • Share the teachings globally through Internet resources

Please give today. Your generosity touches countless hearts and minds, creating a compassionate world with a bright future!

Single donationsmemberships with a recurring monthly donation, and Parasol Partners are all deeply appreciated. To learn more about funding needs and other giving opportunities, please contact Leilain-Kali Rivers, Development Manager or Desmond Hosford, Director.
