Guru Rinpoche Puja

“Padmasambhava is a special person with a connection to Chenrezig. He is one of the highest. He was a buddha, a fully enlightened one.” —His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama

Revered and beloved in Tibet as embodying all the buddhas and as a manifestation of Amitabha, Padmasambhava (also known as Guru Rinpoche, meaning Precious Master) arrived from India during the 8th century to establish Buddhism in the Land of the Snows, transforming negative forces into Dharma protectors.

Prayers to Padmasambhava are considered to be increasingly potent during these difficult times, and he is often invoked for protection and the destruction of obstacles. The powerful prayers in this puja include the Supplication to Dispel Obstacles on the Path and the Requesting Prayer to Guru Rinpoche. All are warmly welcomed, and altar offerings of flowers, fruits, or sweets are encouraged as a merit-generating practice of generosity.

“If someone offers a small flower or rice to a Buddha statue, a stupa or scripture then the benefit extends from then up to Enlightenment. Amazing, amazing. It is said in the sutra Piled Flowers, on top of that benefit, you achieve ultimate happiness – liberation from the causes of delusion and karma and on top of that full Enlightenment – all the realizations and omniscient mind.” —Lama Zopa Rinpoche
