Karmic Benefits of Volunteering
Doing work at the center is putting the bodhisattva vow into practice. Many other sentient beings are depending on your help. So whatever responsibility one has taken, whatever work one is doing, other beings are depending on you.
Bodhisattvas must create unimaginably huge collections of merit and wisdom on the path to enlightenment. The perfection of generosity is the first of the six perfections. Being generous with one’s time and skills is an ideal way to practice the Bodhisattva path.
When you serve Shantideva Center, you serve the aspirations of all of our teachers including HH Dalai Lama and Lama Zopa Rinpoche to progress on the path to enlightenment.
Dharma Centers are karmically powerful, due to the compassion and prayers of our lineage teachers and teachings that we support. Through the force of bodhichitta, the two collections of merit and wisdom, prayers from the side of enlightened beings, and from the side of sentient beings like us, we have a precious opportunity to easily accumulate virtue, purify negative karma, and plant the seeds for liberation and enlightenment.
Success depends on how much merit you have accumulated. This applies to success in life in general, and to success in the practices that you do in order to achieve the ultimate happiness of liberation and enlightenment.
