During this session Tenzin Chodron will introduce various aspects of spiritual care with the dying through stories of her work in end-of-life-care in a Buddhist home-hospice service in Australia. This will include discussion about the importance of being aware of and preparing for one’s own death as well as the deaths of loved ones and others.

This session offers the opportunity for participants to ask any questions in relation to death and dying. Questions can be related to personal experiences of caring for loved ones or working in the area of end-of-life-care, as well as general questions about the Buddhist approach to death and dying and spiritual care. The field is open to whatever you would like to discuss. Please be ready with your questions.

Shantideva Center makes offerings to our teachers and facilitators using the funds collected through registration. You can give additional support to the teacher or facilitator and create a stronger karmic connection by offering dana. Please make sure to select the teacher’s or facilitator’s name in the dropdown menu. Dana offered is passed entirely to them, but please note that it is not tax-deductible.

About the Teacher

Tenzin Chodron ordained as a Buddhist nun in 1999 and studied Buddhist philosophy intensively for many years at Chenrezig Institute in Australia. She has a Master’s degree in Social Work, previously working with Indigenous communities dealing with grief and loss. She has been involved in end-of life care for 21 years, offering spiritual and counseling support to individuals and families, and providing training and education on death and dying in the wider community. Chodron continues to offer retreats on Spiritual Care with the Dying, based on Buddhist principles, contemplative practices and compassionate care. She is a registered In-Depth teacher with FPMT.
