Compassion in Action

What does it mean to practice Compassion in Action as a society?

” I believe that at every level of society – familial, tribal, national and international – the key to a happier and more successful world is the growth of compassion. We do not need to become religious, nor do we need to believe in an ideology. All that is necessary is for each of us to develop our good human qualities. I try to treat whoever I meet as an old friend. This gives me a genuine feeling of happiness.  It is the practice of compassion.”- His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama

What is Compassion In Action for the Mahayana path?

“A unique aspect of the Mahayana path is its focus on serving others out of loving kindness and concern. All FPMT centers, projects and services exist because of this attitude: they serve their local communities by providing access to Buddha’s teachings, which can, if applied sincerely, liberate each of us from all frustrations and suffering, and lead us to lasting peace and happiness – enlightenment.” – Community Services in the FPMT
