Vajrasattva New Year Practice
with Venerable Robina Courtin

Thu Jan 1, 2:30-4:30pm EST

IN-PERSON & ONLINE

Community Food Drive Nov 19-Jan 1. Bring along some canned goods to help support the neighborhood food pantry.

The beginning of a new year can be a powerful time to welcome positive change, as well as an opportunity to reflect on impermanence and the karmic implications of our own actions. As easy as it is to think, “Out with the old, in with the new,” it is so much more effective to transform the old to clear space for the new. We can transform our old habits by engaging in the Buddhist practices of purification, like this one centered on the meditational deity Vajrasattva. This New Year’s Day practice involves a method for removing obstacles caused by negative karma and a cleansing visualization. Make a fresh start for the year by purifying our old habits with the meditation on the four powers and making optimistic decisions to change.

After the Vajrasattva practice, stay for refreshments and a short New Year’s cleaning party! Planned activities include organizing khatas, dusting shelves, cleaning the altar, and doing a general tidy-up, all while giving us a wonderful opportunity to connect.
