HH Dalai Lama Birthday Celebration!
with Ven. Amy Miller
Tue Jul 6, 7–9pm EDT ONLINE
The wish-granting Wish-Fulfilling Jewel,
Source of every single benefit and happiness in this world,
To the incomparably kind Tenzin Gyatso, I beseech:
May all your holy wishes be spontaneously fulfilled.
– Prayer of the Long Life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama
His Holiness the Dalai Lama is having a birthday, and we invite you all to come celebrate with us! As the spiritual leader of Tibet, the Dalai Lama has devoted his life to bringing happiness to all living beings everywhere–and his 85th year was no exception. This past year has been a whirlwind of activity for His Holiness (in real life and virtually): from furthering his message of religious harmony by continuing to hold interfaith dialogues; to meeting with Greta Thunberg, climate scientists, and an array of other thought leaders; to publishing the second volume in his “Science and Philosophy in the Indian Buddhist Classics” series; and giving precious teachings on foundational texts from Chandrakirti, Nagarjuna, and Tsongkhapa.
On the event of the His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso’s 86th birthday, come celebrate with Shantideva Center and join a special evening of praises and practices, which were compiled by Lama Zopa Rinpoche. The evening will be led by Venerable Amy Miller in our virtual gathering space, from your home on July 6 from 7-9pm.
The very best gift we can give to our kind teachers is the offering of our own sincere spiritual practice. As part of this evening’s events, we also invite you to come prepared with a photo of His Holiness, and an additional offering of tea and sweet food, to be used in our practice together. Bring Your Own Bodhicitta!
