Help Needed in
Restoring Shantideva Center’s Precious Buddhas

“Every single holy object is the basis for you to create all the merits that bring every success and pleasure that you experience now, as well causing your future liberation and enlightenment. Whether a person is Buddhist or not, just seeing a holy object allows them to create soooo much merit.” —Lama Zopa Rinpoche

If you’ve been in the gompa—or seen our altar during Zoom teachings—you have felt the spiritual impact of the holy beings represented there. Impermanence visits even such images. Last summer, Geshe Tenley noticed that some of the faces were worn or damaged and cautioned that it was not auspicious to let them stay that way. We were fortunate to have an experienced Tibetan artist, Sonam Rinzin, who used real gold to restore the faces of the altar’s large central Buddha and several of the smaller ones. In addition, he opened the eyes of a couple of other statues.

What You Can Do To Help

We need to raise $3,060 to cover the restoration costs for these precious statues. Lama Zopa Rinpoche taught that by “…offering gold, then wow, wow, wow. Can you imagine the result! From only a tiny offering of a flower or rice, so much benefit is received due to that statue. So really, holy objects are wish-fulfilling gems, unbelievably precious.”
