What do you do to support Shantideva Center?
I am the SPC (Spiritual Program Coordinator) for the Shantideva and although that is my title, I work with a team of exceptional volunteers and without them, these programs would not be possible. We invite teachers, organize programs both online and in person.
What do you do professionally and/or as a hobby?
I retired from the fashion industry during Covid and split my time between volunteering at the Shantideva and being a visual artist.
Why do you offer service?
Service is a large part of my Dharma practice and it is very rewarding to help bring the Dharma to the community. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to connect and serve our precious teachers.
What do you find most rewarding about your role?
It has been invaluable to meet other Dharma practitioners, support a place for the dharma to flourish, and receive teachings from so many knowledgeable and inspiring teachers!
How has Shantideva Center benefited your life?
Since I became involved with Shantideva, I have learnt so much about the dharma, upped my practice at least 500% and found a spiritual home and community of like minded people to share this journey. Focusing on the Buddha’s teaching has given me a way to understand and deal with life’s challenges and as a result, I am a happier person.
What are other volunteers like at Shantideva Center?
The other volunteers are a caring, kind and dedicated group of people. I feel incredibly grateful to be a part of this team. I am always learning from each of them and in that way consider them all my mentors
