About the Facilitator

Charlotte Lowson, a native New Yorker, met the dharma in northern California while at Stanford University. In 1994, she attended her first of several Lam Rim retreats at Kopan Monastery in Nepal. She has been fortunate to receive extensive teachings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Lama Zopa Rinpoche, and Ribur Rinpoche and to have had the opportunity to complete two three-month Vajrasattva retreats. Charlotte and her husband, Brad, also studied Buddhist Philosophy, or Madhyamaka, at the first Masters Program at Istituto Lama Tsongkhapa in Pomaia, Italy from 2000 to 2002. Returning to New York in 2002, Charlotte was one of the founders of the current Shantideva Meditation Group and has taken an active role in its growth to become Shantideva Center. Charlotte currently teaches high school History and English for the New York City schools. She lives on the Upper West Side with her husband and their cat, Dzogchen (Zoe).
